Mountain Climbing

Mountains? We all have to climb them....they maybe personal, financial, spiritual, trouble within our families-broken relationships, hurt feelings-i could go on and on. What is the mountain in your life today? Is it something that is too big for God to handle? Are we letting God handle it or are we really staying involved and trying to solve it ourselves?
My journey of a thousand steps as the song states started for me in July of 2004. Rather than go into all the details surrounding my circumstances, I would like to share with you a time line of the mountains that have taken place in my life:
Married in July of 2003 at the age of 35
Diagnosed with massive Schwannoma Brain Tumor in July of 2004 before my 1 year anniversary
Had my first tumor removal in Nov of 2004 (this surgery caused alot of complications including-hearing loss, loss of proper speech, loss of writing skills, tongue swollen outside of my mouth, could not walk, lacked fine motor skills and was being fed by a feeding tube) Total time to recover from this surgery was approx. 2 yrs
2nd tumor removal in Nov of 2006- This was a very big surgery but had fewer complications. Things I like to remember were having a shaved head that I could really get into and developed an accent in which people thought I was from another country!
Returned for my 6 month check in April of 2008 only to find the remainder of the tumor was aggressively growing
so in May of 2008 I underwent an 81/2 hr surgery and started leaking brain fluid out of my ear where they had just reconstructed a man made ear drum
in June of 2008 they gave me a spinal drain in hopes of stopping the leak NOPE
Later that same monthI had to have my rt ear permanently sealed
released to go home, but started leaking BF out of my nose
tried several ways to stop the leak but eventually back into the hospital for another spinal drain which this time fixed the leak
however I developed MRSAwhich is a severe staff infection then
Due to complications I had to have my rt eye permanently closed
July 28th of 2008 went back for a post MRI onlt to find another brain tumor had formed from the remaining cells from the prior surgery on my brain stem. All in just 6 weeks
July of 2008 had surgery again to remove what they could. Had to leave some behind, it is inoperable.
In Sept 2008 I endured 6 wks M-F going to Cleveland for radiation to confuse the cells of the tumor to slow or stop their growth sofar that has worked! PTL
Went through 6 wks of severe depression-stayed in bed, did not bathe regularly, did not want to talk to anyone, could not keep anything down, lost 80 lbs was JUST NOT ME
In March of 2009 these complications led to being placed with a brain shunt to control the amount of fluid on my brain
Finally I thought my troubles were over but in May of that year while at a follow up appt I experienced a stroke. I am however thankful it stopped at my mouth. It somewhat affected my speech and my full potential to sing but not my vision since I only had one eye to start with.
Enough already right? Well God says he will not give us more than we can bear?Let me just add a few more things into the mix of things!
Lost my Mother-in-law
Lost my Father-in-law
Lost 2 nieces and a nephew on Randys side to Suicide
I went through 3 jobs
Randy went through jobs
The failing health of my parents
My husband was diagnosed with cancer and off work for 1 year
The recent death of my husbands brother July 14 of this year
"I dont know how you have done it" you might say
I say "Trust" John H. Sammis (1846-1919) wrote the beloved hymnn "Trust and Obey for there is NO other way to be HAPPY in Jesus than to Trust and Obey!
Ive often asked why- and I believe it was to teach me personally what it is to fully trust Him and not try to be in control an itty bit, to fully turn it over, let it go, and to become a servant putting others above myself and before my own troubles. I have found staying invested in others leaves me less time to think about myself. And though I dont sing that well, I have a song in my heart to share-And most of all to be an encouragement to others.
If we put our full Trust in Him according to Romans 8:28 "All things work together for those who love the Lord."
So I ask you again What is your mountain today?Is it something too big for God? I dont think so...Just turn it over to God, Dont try to scale the mountain on your own, crossover it with the Lord and let it be just a hill! He will be faithful to us. As it says in James 1:2-4
My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy,because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance;and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing. My desire is to be known as a spiritual person full of the Joy of the Lord,and to be an encourager of others. So in closing I will close with a chorus from a favorite song:

The picture is that of the sleeved roses that are in tubs at the checkout. Randy, it being the day before Valentines Day decided to purchase me one and place it in the fridge.Valentines morning he gets it out and gives it to me proud like Alfalfa to his teacher! I get out the vase, fill it with water and unsleeved the rose. I sought out a sharp knife and began sawing away at the stem for the perfect fit. Just couldnt cut through, upon closer investigation
I saw the wire in the stem!!

Now its crooked now its not!

I used this as an example when teaching Childrens Church:

I want you to take this tube of toothpaste and squirt it all out on your plate. (the kids did and had a good time!) Now I want you to put it all back in the tube. ( the kids tried to no avail)Thus are the words that so freely flow out our mouths. When we open our mouths the words positive or negative will squirt out just like the toothpaste (no problem) It becomes a problem when we try to put those ill or harsh words back like putting the paste back in its tube. Our mouths and tongue can be used to encourage one another or can tear someone apart. How many times a day
do we build each other up and how often do we tear someone down? How often do we ask ourselves how are they benefiting from what I am saying?

OK, I know I can soon type something positive! Right now I feel that our family is being attacked by Satan, and our Faith is being tried. 3 weeks ago my sister Cindy was diagnosed with Graves disease which is a thyroid disorder. 2 weeks ago my sister Robin was told she has Graves disease and a nodule on her thyroid that will need tested. I talked to my sister Margaret tonight and she had an ultrasound on her thyroid, they told her that her thyroid is peppered with nodules and will have to have biopsies. She also suffered a stroke in Aug. My mother no longer talks which they say came from mini strokes. As you knowI am still recovering from my stroke in May. My husband Randy is currently dealing with cancer.
Satan is coming at us from every direction, please join me in prayer and show Satan who is in charge!

Randy is down 1 week tomorrow with 5 more to go. Below is a picture of the fanny pack that Randy has to wear for Chemo. This pouch holds a pump, a bag of fluid and 6 ft. of tubing. This is worn 24 hours a day. The pump disperses about 1 tsp./hour. At least this way is not big doses all at once,however he has had an upset tummy since Friday;(

I am so very happy I waited till I was 35 to marry.

He was the missing piece of my puzzle.

I was content alone and thought that was the way it was going to be.

However,God had different plans!!

We dated a very short time march24th-april4th, engaged on April 5th and married July 19th all in 2003.This has been an amazing 6 years and I am glad God put him in my life.

When you get to know him you will love him too!!

Been Awhile

Okay, Randy's work came, but where is my patience??? Many of you including myself prayed for Randy's work to increase, and he was given an assignment for 8 hours a day for 2 weeks PTL! Not much new with me, same old same old Therapy. In speech thearpy their electricuting me! They are doing a shock treatment trying to get the muscles to move in my face. And then there is my arm therapy, the Therapists and Katie feel things are going well; I just don't see it. Just wanting the use of my arm. Physical therapy for my legis going well. I have therapy twice a week and once a week I swim in the pool. I do feel like i'm getting stronger, but not enough to be alone. Coming home from therapy yesturday, I fell backwards off the porch. I have no idea what I did. Luckily Katie broke my fall and protected my head. Still waiting to hear from disability. Please pray for my patience, I don't have any.

Well I have been home now since Tuesday, I miss the treatment i was getting from Robin, but things are going well. A friend's daughter (Katie) is staying with me during the day. Randy is working day shift until I can be alone. Our prayer is work will increase. As of now, he is not getting many hours. Therapy I feel is going okay. My arm therapist seems to think I have good movement, which is in my favor. I personally just don't see it. Katie and I finished picking up the house after the remodeling. I have managed to tell Katie how to cook Taco Soup and Stuffed Pepper Soup. I have to say she did a great job! Lots of work to do on the house and my therapy, but both will be a long road. Pray for Randy's work and for my patience.

Well Ihave been at my sisters house for about 2 weeks. the treatment has been excellent. I find myself not wanting to go home.
Hooooooooome oh that is right Ihave one.>}

We have hired a friends daughter to stay with me during the day and Randy at night.

I myself am not seeing any progress,however my caregiver has noticed some change.

It is going to be a long road..............................................................

Quick Note: On May 22nd i had a stroke leaving the left side of my body paralized. I spent seven weeks at a rehab hospital. I am now at my sister's house for two weeks. The road to recovery is long, but with God's grace i will succeed. Much love to all. I am doing much better each in every day.

Well, My friend was taking care of my dogs for me,as it is hard for me to care for them right now.
I then got a call letting me know she had fell in the DM parking lot has a very huge arm, 2 broken fingers and lots of facial issues including 8 stitches to the eye. Day 1 I will say has been tolerable, but I am just not ready. Everything happens for a reason they say.

I feel like I am crawling out of my skin. I went with Karen last night as usual when Randy sleeps. She pulled in downtown for me to throw away some trash. it is just to weird, I did and it was lke a baby taking her first steps. Walking on unfamiliar territory is very scary and I feel as if I am going to fall! I just don't understand. Any thoughts?

The Shunt Sisters

Well here we are on day whatever and it will be a month on the 31st since I got the shunt. I will be going the 26th yo have the sights look at and see if we need address the pressure issue. I am currently going to therapy,counseling, and would now be adding occupational therapy. Everyone informs me that this is a very long recovery. I have alot of work to do. I want to be a better person. I need lots and lots of prayers.

Life As It Will BE

I have reached the conclusion that I feel where I am, is where I will be as far as my vision. there are a way lot of adjustments that will need made and somethings will just be. Having one eye poses alot of depth issues and others like running into things. Things you don't even think about.
My right ear being sealed off just made the deafness more perminent!!!;
My upper body is weak but I have exercises to strengthen and manipulate them more.
my lower body is still somewhat off balanced and i am not very sure of my footing other than flat straight spots in the house.
My shunt would have hopefully got rid of this..........It did just not all the way.
So being outside is just so iffy right now,............with the ground being so unlevel.

4 Things I can be greatful for: LESS DIZZY,NOT VOMITING,STAYING AT HOME BY MYSELF

The biggest problem I see is my Depression. After laying in my bed for 6 months with loss of appetite and dizziness finding it to be my place of comfort. I have fallen completely out of sync with love, life and laughter. Life is all boring to me. Everything is overwhelming, and the simplest project seems so big.THERE IS SO MUCH I WANT TO DO AND CANT YET!

I Must be in the valley, going through all of this for a reason-I don't know-
The bible tells us that even in those times praise Him and I do...things are just really hard right now.

I would appreciate you comments thouhgts and prayers. I have to get better than this.

Shunt Surgery

I had a Brain Shunt put in on March 31st. We are hoping to get rid of the dizziness I am experiencing. It is better but not gone. I am trusting that the fluid will even off and I will feel better. I have lost alot of weight due to no appetite, I am watning my appetite to come back. It is causing me alot of problems. I have also lost alot of muscle not being able to move around for 6 months due to dizziniess. That is all for now.

I don't know if blue is bleak but that is how I feel today. I am home alone today and I know it sounds silly but it is a fear I have had since coming home from the hospital. I think it came from actually coughing and puking my guts up to the point of passing out....that was scarry. I think that I am going to walk over to my moms and oil the craft work on her coffee table. It will give her and I both some company. It is just cold and dreary outside today(No Sun) and I know that does not help. I just finished going through some of my Cleveland Clinic bills........they currently have a a balance pending of $91,000.00. I currebtly owe $843
.00! That sounds alot better huh??? I guess we will all be travelling to my sisters in Canton for Thanksgiving. We have not done that for years so looking forward to it. Turkey Breast, Roast Beef, Homemade Rolls, Greenbeans, Corn, Mash Potatoes, Stufffing, 7 Layer salad and Miscellaneos Desserts! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Well as I learned yesterday:

Snow Squalls and a Shot of Insullin!!

So I can not get the picture but I was trying to picture some of the snow squalls we came home from Cleveland Eye Institute last night. I thought I had the snow pretty good however it was just dust on my screen!!!! Yes dust on MY screen !

Finally some good news from the Eye Doctor(yeh) My eye is still closed due to lost vision and protection, however the Cornea is healed and there is no Ulcer. I praise and thank the Lord for that.

Thanks for all the prayers, cards and support during my Hospital stay. They always mean so much;)

The doctor said I should celebrate by haveing a drink, I said supper and a Shot of Insullin will do(LOL)

Was not really sure what to expect today........it ended up do a few things and rest ALOT!!! Randy left about 5am for his work. He was happy to be back in his truck(he likes his job)

Ellen came about 7am this morning with my babies. I really missed them but maybe even a couple more days would have been great.

She is staying Monday and maybe Tuesday night, until I am trusted to be a big girl!!!!!

Schnapps has spent most of his day catching up on some much missed sleep:) Sparky however is so possessive about the chewie bones(He is going to be sick)

To welcome me home from the Hospital Dick and Evelyn Funk sent me some flowers. Please remember them in your prayers as Evelyn is very very weak!

Just to let everyone know that I arrived home today and appreciate your continued support and prayers.
As many of you know I have been in the Mansfield Hospital for over a week. I was being treated for dehydrattion and brain stem swelling.
I have been encouraged to call my surgeon in Cleveland tomorrow to see about possibly getting a shunt put in.
Please pray for continued wisdom and guidance.

I have been very sick the past few days and I am faxing a letter to my Doctor. I would appreciate the continued prayers of my blogger friends and family. There are getting to be too many days I just don't think I can make it. When I find out something I will let you know.

I would like you to meet Hannah and Hunter. Hunter was purchased at a Goodwill for me at Christmas for 59 cents! I was very young and he has always remained my favorite. Hannah came along about 8 months ago,off ebay. These are the youngest of the Play Pal family, the proper name is Bye Bye Baby! Are they not adorable?

Just a real quick update:
I went to see Dr. Kitzzman the Eye Specialist. She said my eye looked better, not good, but better! So I considered that good news, Praise the Lord for that. She also cut back the number of eye drops that I was using, yip-eee more time for me!

Last but definitely not least, she took me off the Doxycycline!!!! This was the medicine that was making me sick and causing me so many problems. Maybe now I can eliminate the insulin and potassium;]

Praise the Lord for some good news!

Just a little note about my health- Since I have been on insullin I have kept my food down, lets just keep it so it is temporary .) I get more bloodwork in the morning and to the Eye Doctor at the Clinic in the afternoon. (Prayers please) I will update tomorrow night.

So this is Patti and she will greet you at the front door unless she is deep in her studies.) She is still studying her farm animal book! This book was Tom's when he was little, I wish they still made things this cute!

Health Problems vs Stay motivated

So, I am slowly but surely getting my Bedroom together. I know it has only been over three years! If you know me well enough, you know my love for antiques. I have my house furnished and accessorized with them. I am trying to replace anything new. As far as my room is concerned, it is on the smaller side so we are trying to decide if we are going to paint just 1 wall as an accent wall or all the walls. We have purchased a soft green paint found in our accessories

I now have to take a pill for my Potassium..........it is very low.He said this is a result of my sugar levels. There is something going on with my camera but this is my new pill, I thought I was gonna have to get out a saddle to ride this one, it is HUGE.(

Sorry no pictures or fancy colors today. I have been sick as usual and real sick the 22+23. I finally got into the Doctor(family) and discovered that my Blood Sugar Levels are all over the board. Your level should be 120 or less and mine ranged from 178-384! So I am taking 4 Insullin shots a day to see if we can work this out. He feels this is only temporary from the infection, stress and my eye. I sure hope!! So I will hopefully back t0 posting soon.)

Soooo, Robin and I were led out to the waiting area by the nurse.What am I here for? Am I here to stitch my eye or bladder? Yeh, that is what Robin and I thought! After moving down to chair number 5 out 8. The above is an example of the chairs that I bypassed sitting on. I repeat and I repeat absolutely not one hospital should be allowed to have cloth in there waiting rooms. GROSS!!!

Now the news...My eye has not improved at all and I am on the way back to Cleveland to have my eye sewn shut!!

The Dr. was not happy that the other Dr.had cancelled my original surgery.

That is what happens when you have too many Doctors!!!!!

I finally received a call from The Infectious Disease Doctor yesterday at 4:45pm. She said that I was no longer contagious. Woo-Hoo!!!!!!!!! I feel as if I have been a prisoner in my home. I could not go anywhere and no one wanted to come over.(

Sooo, it was appointed for me to be released at the time I was to attend the Conference at CRC.

It was Jolene De Heer. She was a dynamic spearker and I could have listened to her all night. Just what they say is true: She will have you laughing at one moment and crying the next.

Her subject was Women of Value. We are so busy feeling not "Good" enough to todays standards. She asked two questions:WHO ARE YOU?If you were introduced yourself what are 3 things you would say?
ARE YOU WHO GOD WANTS YOU TO BE?

They were Questions that really made you think! The most I can say is I wish you all could be there. She was phenomenal, and as my old boss would say just Favulus.

So today was going to be my first big day out, and I was ready..........that was until I took my Doxicycline, and then I was sick.(

My plan fell through and I went back to bed and laid around on the couch and cleaned the kitchen.

Speaking of cleaning the kitchen, the whole time I was cleaning Sparky was right at my feet waiting for something to fall on the floor-where was Schnapps-he really had the right idea!

Like Mother Like Son. We have been obviously extremely bored around this Crib since my infection diagnosis. The doctor had said that the 1st 5 days were important. I will not go anywhere and everyone is afraid of my house! Yes, it has been real nice out but by the time you put sunglasses and a hat on, it is HOT! Well any way the kids are extremely bored also. When I came in the backroom I caught Schnapps on the phone again.......no wonder I run out of minutes.O

He says" there is nothing to do I am bored, so I am talking to Black Jack"

Well this is where I spent most of my night,vomiting and being sick to my tummy, not exactly how I planned on spending my night!

Well I went to the infectious disease doctor today to find out I have MRSA!!!!

Yes add that to the list of things that Angela has or has had!!

So I have an additional nasal cream, special bathing supplies not including the fact that I am to wash my sheets daily and use paper towels and clean wash cloths and towel daily!

I am going to make this short tonight because I am very tired. More to come!

Thanks so much for the flowers. When you have been bawling your head off for every reason imaginable, it is so nice for Fed Ex to arrive with flowers for me!!!!!!!!!! I then opened the card to find they were from Josh, Erin and Faith. So again I say thanks- for the flowers and making me smile;)

In Health News: I got a phone call from the Cleveland Clinic and it was an Infectious Disease Doctor named Dr. England. I have to go there tomorrow at 2pm. Lets just pray really hard, like I know we all are. Hopefully she can get this infection straightened around.

Well when you feel really crappy, where do you even start????

I have had these bumps on my thighs and neck. I talked to my Radiologist on 10-2-08, while I was there. She was confident that it WAS NOT Radiation related and suggested that I see my regular Primary Doctor!

SO!!!!!

I called Dr.Paul and they worked me in TODAY, only to find out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I have an infection that has seeded itself internally. WELL ALRIGHTY THEN, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??

Well it may have come as an added bonus from Eye, no one really knows for sure.

Dr. Paul said that this is a Postule or Staph infection. At any rate, if the medicine DOES NOT work, he said back to the hospital and IV'S with antibiotics!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I have had enough days in the hospital, no I am really CEREAL

Well back 10-2-08

I went back to Cleveland's Disease and Cornea Specialist

Her words were that my eye is in very detrimental and sick condition

So then what is next: She placed me on 2 more antibiotic drops and another pill. Next Friday

Dr. Perry will be closing more if not all of it. They will leave an opening for drops of course.

And then I go back the following Thursday for Dr. Kitzmann for her to do the final look at my eye. If everything is under control They will Leave Er shut until May.

I have to be very honest, I have remained pretty positive through this journey but the last couple of days,,,,,,,,,,ROCK BOTTOM! I feel embarassed to admit it, it shows a sign of weakness and I do not like it. I just don't understand and probably never will:(

I know only God has the answer.

Sick, Tired and Cold

Well........The Disease and Cornea Specialist called me to inform me there is a new bacteria growing in my eye, OK, and sorry folks but it has a horrid odor. So far one of the cultures out of 6 are back. SO,,,,,,,,,,,,I go back to Cleveland tomorrow to the specialist to re-examine the eye get more medicine and decide how much more needs to close on my eye. That surgery is scheduled for next Friday. I have been absolutely exhausted these past 2 days. I guess I might as well say that I am just stressed to the Max!

While spending time in the recliner today and the windows open at a mere 54 degrees, the dogs were chilly. So as any good mother would do, I covered them up. Are they spoiled or what?

Seriously, don't ya think that if you worked with patients up front and in their face , you would practice Great Oral Hygiene???????

Well that was obviously not part of this Nurses orientation! It was horrid t0 start with and then she shuts me in the 10x10 room with her! Not Pretty!!!

While we were released to the waiting area Robin noticed this really cute picture-I had to look really hard!

The news today at the Cornea Specalist was not all that great, to say the least. I will sum it up in her words:
*Detrimental
*Very thin spot in Cornea that can rupture or become a hole anytime
*Took 6 cultures (results tomorrow)
*Placed a clear contact to help protect the eye ( it dried up and came out before I got home)
*Worried about bacteria and infection
*Eye not Healing
*Would not take any vacation until eye is stabalized
*No patch, warm area to breed bacteria
*Vision will not be regained
*Placed on 2 antibiotics
*Will refer with Dr. Perry tonight and will schedule a total closing of the eye

I believe I have been in better Spirits! Continue to PRAY

It has not been a good week-end, I have felt sick to my stomache and have had a head ache and the runs. OK that was probably TMI.

Now to some more interesting news. Today was our Moms 80th Birthday. We all take turns getting my mothers supper and today happened to be my sister Robins Day. She arranged to have Party on the Porch. I am going to post some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Surgery Party and Dancing with the Stars!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, for those of you wondering I now have 30% of my eye closed. This procedure is to help protect the eye. All doctors so far have been in agreement about the regained vision in my eye-they do not believe that will happen.

I will be seeing a Cornea specialist on the 29th and she will determine if it is closed enough or maybe needs to be closed more. I went through the surgery awake since I am paralyzed there anyway. I had no idea what to expect, but this looks like an eye, but smaller!

Sooo it was a very long day and by the time I came home I was exhausted and having to Ice my eye and put medicine, blah blah blah. I was to be the host home for the Opening Season Premier of DANCING WITH THE STARS. I decided why not?

The girls all showed up at once-that would be my sister and two of my friends and my husband and I. I am glad I went through with it. We had alot of fun together and the two hours went by very fast. I fell asleep in my chair around 10pm and I believe it was around 12am that I woke up and Merry and Karen were still here and they even cleaned up the dishes. It is very hard for me to let others serve, but it was nice and I appreciated it.

They arrived with and Ice Cream Cake, Balloons, Cereal, Bean Pot, Ice cream, Kettle Corn, and an Angel. Yes they did that for me and they actually surprised me!!!!!

No More Radiation (woo-hoo)

Well, finally Thursday came and went. It was my last treatment and trip up to see the Doctor. It felt so good not to have to get up and go to the CCF on Friday. I actually slept in a little and then spent some time at my mom and dads. I really feel they just got used to me being around at least once a day and all through my treatments that just did not happen. I stayed there a while, went to the bank and then home. Randy had gotten off work, so we took the Convertible over to Ever Green Green House and bought some Mums. I sat down for a little bit and then started puttsing around in the garage. The nurse at my last visit expressed to me, that REST is very important for the next 3-4 weeks. I will try to make that happen but it feels so good to be home! In ither news they have me set for December 19th for my followup MRI to see just what took place these last 30 days. The Doctors have been well on there way and now we are trusting God for the rest! We do know however He can do it all!

Monday at 11 they will be closing my right eye until May, let us continuing praying for that situation.

Aren't we cute? I'm on the left, Angela is on the right. I always loved that afghan. It had every color imaginable in it. I always loved to look at it. It was most definitely eye candy!

This picture is of: Me on the left, Angela in the middle, and our sister Cindy on the right. Now it looks as though I am holding her hand, but I was actually blocking an attempt of hers to try and punch me in the face!

This picture proves who is the smartest one. Gee ladies, it looks like you might have a problem with the sun! I guess I should have worn sunglasses that day...oh wait, I did!

Yeah, the cutie patootie on the far left is Miss Angela! Then our cousins Kim and Crystal, followed by Moi and our mom. I'm sure mom was looking down at Angela to make sure she wasn't in distress for too long. (Do I sound like I have sibling jealousy issues?)

Well, I am Angela's sister Robin, and I have control of her blog! Muah ha ha! She's allowing me to have control because I am constantly telling her she has "control" issues. I guess this is her last ditch effort to hide the ugly truth. She is a CONTROL FREAK!

On a more serious note, I must first say that tomorrow will be her last radiation treatment, and for that we are very thankful! She has been through so much, and yet, she never troubles anyone about it. She is the same old Ang to us. I spoke with a lady today who put it perfectly. She said, "Angela exudes so much personality, that you don't really notice any of the physical things she is going through, because so much of who she is, is her inner self and that's what ultimately shines through, and you see her the same as you always have." That's really true. I could never quite put it into words, but Esther did.

Now, on to more unpleasant business. I am going to tell you what it is like to go to radiation with Angela on Tuesdays. Tuesday was my day to drive, because that is the day she would see the doctor. She thought it would be good to have me there to listen to what the doctor had to say. Well, well, well, that wasn't really necessary. Why, you ask? I'll tell you why! It is mainly because the doctor doesn't get to speak. He barely sits down in his chair and Ang is saying, "well, I saw the doctor about my eye, and we are going to have it sewn shut on Monday and that will remain that way until March and then we'll discuss what is going to happen from there." (I'm sure he's thinking, thank you for that Angela, I probably would have gotten around to asking about it, once I actually sat down.) Well, let me finish the rest by typing in a he said, she said manner.

"has everything been going okay?"

"well, I just have this sweating issue, see, my hair is soaking wet, I don't know why I sweat all the time, well I do know that you said it's probably because of the steroids, so there is nothing I can do about that, so I'll just have to deal with it, so other than that, I don't think so. What are we going to do with the medicine, now that my treatments will end on Thursday?" Before he can answer, she says, "I'm supposing I will wean off of them, since I'm no longer having radiation."

"yes, Angela, that's right, we'll be weaning you off of them"

"okay, that's what I thought, and how would you like me to go about that?" (oh, maybe if he could get a word in, he will tell you)

"umm, (he is trying not to grin, since he's the doctor, and angela has had control from the get go) well, take one pill every other day to start off with."

"ok, and what do you want to do about my follow up? will I be seeing you before 3 months, or will I just wait until that time is up?" he starts to speak...she continues "because I'll tell you what concerns me, I want to make sure there are no other tumors growing"

"yes, that is a legitimate concern, but it really won't (interruption)"

"yes, I know, it really won't do any good because there will still be swelling, so you really won't be able to tell anything from an MRI before that"

"yes, Angela"

"okay, Dr. Chow, is there anything else I need to be doing"

"umm, no I think things have gone pretty well"

"ok, then, thank you Dr. Chow (as she is getting up ahead of him, I suppose to let him know the office visit is over)

He shakes her hand while being prodded out the door like he's in a cattle call.

He is amused with this feisty lady who is bossing him around.

I just smile and nod goodbye. I didn't know if I should apologize or ask him to pay Angela for the visit! All in all......ENTERTAINING!

But, that's what makes Angela, Angela. She has alot of spunk and ambition, which I believe is what keeps her going where others would have given up. It also makes her fun to be around, even in such a serious situation as this one. We are blessed to know her, even if we want to "restrain" her at times! I LOVE YOU SISTER!

Well Sew Me Eye Shut!

Well Everyone, I went to me Eye Specialist today, and Dr.Perry said "Let's Just Sew The Thing Shut"

It appears that NO Moisture, No Regular Eye Closure, and No Feeling have created a not so real pretty situation for my Right Eye. They are going to close it this coming Monday and will keep it closed untl sometime in May. This will be about a year after my last surgery.

Is it what I want? NOT

The Doctors main concern right now is just trying to save what I have left in that eye. He said the eye is heavily scratched and dry and therfore damaged.

The long term plan is not settled, they will wait until my face finishes drooping.

Winds, Cereal and Sweats Oh My

Well I know it is not the Hurricane but it has been some mighty strong winds today, and might I mention they have been HOT winds, YUCK! I like this time of year for the cooler temperatures not 88.5 degrees and hot winds. I am ready for the cool down.

I have not felt well at all for the record today. I have been really off balance and kind of sick to my stomache. The real big problem I have had today are those nasty, I repeat Nasty head sweats, well today they were all over sweats. Any part of my body touching something else just created a drenching affect!

So, since my radiation has started my love for Ceral has increased more than ever. I can eat cereal for every meal. I seem to accomodate cool food better than hot. I am sure the milk helps with coating my stomache since the Decadron I am taking for my swelling they say is very rough on your tummy!

I know this looks real healthy and if you are against sugared cereals, just close your eyes right now. I am normally a Cheerio and Rice Krispie eater, but I stopped at Marc's one day last week, and what can I say:"This was on sale"

Luckily for me I am maintaining my weight even on this steroid, but I know it will not last forever.

I know it has been a couple of days, but just feeling pretty tired! Treatment has been going about the same, I have been coming home feeling pretty exhausted, but guess what? After the treatment today- I ONLY HAVE 4 MORE. Overall the 30 sessions went all alot faster than I anticipated. It will be so nice to wake up next Friday and NOT have to go to Cleveland. My treatments will continue to work for 2-3 weeks after my radiaition. They will not be taking another MRI until December. So I am having my eye focused on Monday before my radiation. It sounds like I will finally have some down time before December. Randy and I have tried to go away like for a weekend but I have always been battling this Braon Tumor so I hope I can plan something! Well let us see how today goes!

Well today was an O.K. day. Marie was as usual my Monday Driver, however I do not know what she was actually thinking. All I know is that she was on all kind of backroads and eventually got herself confused and it toolk 10:20 to 12:36 to get to me treatment!

But anyway, as I was getting ready this morning, I had made the bed it was a a chilly 58 degrees!!

So I went to take my shower and when I returned my bed was unmade and there was 2 dogs in the middle of the covers;>)

These were cars that were on display at the Hobby Day our church was holding with the Lutheran Church. There were alot of Vintage Cars and some other hobbys displayed. The event was used as a Community outreach, they had Testimonies and Singing going on as well. Randy displayed his work in progress (1966 Ranchero) hopefully someday it will be complete. I was asked to share through testimony and song, I did, and hoped it was a witness to someone.

I felt fairly well today but would ask you to pray for the vision in my right eye. Today I have no vision in that eye, only light, and the eye is very red and inflamed.

Well, Well, Well

Last night 9-4-08 I attended radiation at 4pm at at Tower City for Supper and yes, that is right, don't even be jealous- I went to the American Idol Tour Concert at 7pm!

Just imagine sitting in an Arena that holds up to 14,000 people and the floor literally vibarating from the music. Then suddenly raising up out of the floor sitting at your piano and just singing like a pro! Thats my little David Archuletta. He was the reason I was really there. David Cook that Idol guy, he was OK but it was Archuletta as to why I was there.

My friends Merry, Pam and my sister Karen all together this last season every Idol night-and decided to go to the concert. I am so glad we went, I believe we all enjoyed ourselves! My health conditions were pretty good, besides being very hot from steroids, I considered that very minor.

All the performers were great- however there are some that just dont trip my trigger-that would have been Carly and Ramielle.

And there was David Archuletta, have I mentioned him???????????

You can imagine how mad I just was, when I read you can not have cameras, yea well I will know the truth next time.

Well I went to treatment #21 today-yea thats right back to Cleveland. Hey- 9 more to go!

First, just thought I would share a Picture of my Tweety that my sister drew an incision on, I just think he is to cute to throw away. Besides the fact he is now getting old and just could be an antique!!

I apologize for not updating, but I have not been feeling well.

I did not have a treatment on Labor Day, but had one yesterday and saw the Doctor. I waltzed in with my list from Friday Afternoon on as to how I was feeling all weekend. The list included the following: Jittery, Temp of 100.3, Blood Pressure, Pulse, and Blood Sugar as well as Head Pressure and Massive Head Sweats. I saw the girl that weighs you and no change there (woo-hoo) then my radiation nurse and then Dr. Sui.

Well to make a long story short- They are side effects of the steroid-Decadron and I just have to live with it! They will not do away with the steroid because of the brain swelling. Lucky Me! So I am really trying to rest alot, hoping I feel better for my American Idol Concert!

I left feeling unsatisfied- Robin informed me that thats not how I should feel:(

Sorry there are not any pictures today! Randy was home today and he got too take me to the clinic. They allowed him to go down in the radiation room and then watch the treatment via the cameras. He said it was really neat and looked like something out of Frankenstein! I now have completed 17 treatments and have a long Holiday weekend. I will return Tuesday at 1pm. Hey Everyone!

Today was #15 and I am half of the way there! I will not be having treatment on Monday as the radiologist are taking the Holiday off! What is up with that??

I am looking forward to next thursday. Merry-she was my driver today, Pam, Karen and I are going to see the Americn Idol Tour in Cleveland. I moved my radiation to 3pm that day so we could all go together and eat out before the concert. Yum Yum

Todays treatment went fine- as I said Merry was my driver and we made it back by 2:35!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Record time:)

Hey Everyone-
My sister Robin took me today to the clinic. The weather was breezy, sunny and in the lower 80's. I have no pictures to post as she has informed me that there have been enough sightings lately.
My appt. was at one, but I had my treatment and saw the doctor and was finished by 1:05(woo-hoo)
I would say the only depressing news is the fact that my follow up MRI will probably not happen until 3 months. The doctor however has told me that the tumor is not growing. Thank-you God for all you do!!

Well my update for today will be very brief. I had a great weekend as far as my health, I thank God for that.
Today, Marie was my driver as usual. It was great weather-breezy and in the mid 70's. They were running about an hour behind on my machine so I did not get home until 4:15:( I know, you are probably thinking blah,blah,blah!!
All in all it is 7:01 and I am still feeling pretty good. I hope it continues!

Oh just as a side note-I had so much fun passing out Green Peppers that Ken and Robin graciously donated. I shared them with fellow patients. They were so happpy!

Wow, Wow, Wow

I Have not been feeling well and unable to do my blogging. I am so sorry to you who look at this for Radiation updates. I will try to do my best in catching up!!

Well the weather has been so nice for travelling. I went on Tuesday with my normal?? driver:

Yep, you guessed it my sister Robin! She absolutely drives me bananas!

She goes with me on Clinic days. They were going from Charts to no Charts and you guessesd it, they forgot about me:( How can you even do that? Forget me?

Well we were there for very long time to find out that I need to be on my steroids to keep my brain from swelling and causing me more trouble than I need. I find it very frustrating however that there will not be an actual picture taking of the progress until this is all over!

Wednesday 8-20-08

Today the weather was beautiful again and my driver was Merry(Boyd) Holida. I was not all with it on that day so I failed to take my camera. This was #10 and I am a third of the way complete! YEA

I forgot my camera but we will see her lovely face next week as she will be the official driver for not only one but two days. I bet you are so excited Merry!

I have enjoyed the rides and have totally enjoyed all the one on one conversation!

I felt pretty good this day all in all.

Thursday, Thursday, Thursday 8-21-08

Well this day was a totally different kind of day.

I woke up feeling very ill, depressed, like I could puke at any given moment-not so good feeling. I called Robin from my bed only to ask for her extra prayers that day.

My sister Cindy was to be my designated driver for that day:

This is a picture of her giving our mommy a kiss. Well speaking of kisses- she does not like the thought of anyone kissing up to a puke pan and I believe that was me that day!

I was finally up and getting ready to go and Cindy arrived. I guess she was really nervous about me being sick. She had come in and went to use my bathroom which I was not planning. I told her she would have to overlook my bloomers not really I said underwear. I had a#1 accident which has happened since my first surgery. My mind does not always give me enough warning-anyways-I guess that caused Cindy to totally panick and she took it upon herself to call Robin-out of breath-so to make a long story short- I found myself being traded off like cargo from Cindys car to Robins-sooooooooooooo-Everything came to a head and I had a Pat Catan moment and for the rest of you a plain old Mental Breakdown. I cried my eye out-as many of you know my right eye does not tear! So Robin was my driver that day:

Thanks for being BACK in the drivrs seat again!!!!!!!!!!! I had a yucky ride there and a yucky treatment my mask felt really tight because the lovely steroid makes my face swell.

As you can see how red it makes my face. The doctor in charge of radiation wants me to see Dr. Perry about my eye. He is an eye doctor there at CCF. He feels there might be more options other than sewing it shut! Maybe a fake eye or something. That would be nice if I could wear one contact!!!;) The ride home was better and the Peanut Butter Flurry was the best! I guess humanity happens to all of us-we all have a breakdown. I came home went to bed for the night the next day was better.

I will give you a quick summary:
Friday- very ill after treatment, came home and got in the recliner and made my way to the bed by 8pm
Saturday-was feeling better, but did not want to press my luck. I basically just stayed in and took it easy.
Sunday-Woke up feeling OK so I finally went to church- It was really good. Late Sunday night went for a convertible ride and went to bed. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Moday-8-18-08
Made it to treatment feeling pretty good and home so far feeling pretty good. Marie took me today and the weather was about 85 degrees. I hope the sickness is behind me for awhile or the rest of the time would be great. I had been meaning to tell you that a lady and given me one of those personal fans, that have LED lights. She thought that maybe I coould use it during my radiation. The lights on the blades change color-she told me when I look at thos lights, to remember God Is Our Light-But as the lights change-remember God Never Changes!!

Today the weather was in the mid 70s and cloudy until we started home and then the sun appeared!

This morning was not a very good morning. As you all remember I have buun sick to my tummy since Sunday, well today was Wenesday and I was vomiting. I decided to talk to the Dr. after my treatment. He placed me on a low dose steroid for brain swelling, however this could make my face swell and make my mask much tighter(OUCH) So just pray that my tummy ache just goes away!

Todays driver in the spotlight is Pam. Pam is a friend of mine that I met when working at the Flowershop! We had some nice together away from her son and husband;}

This is what I came home today from radiation! Schnaaps chewed and pulled this rocker from one side of the room to the other. This is a distance about 12 feet! He does not like when I leave him alone yet I feel guilty putting him in his cage. This is the thanks I get!

It is funny though when you come home and ask "Who did this?" Schnaaps immediately lowers his head, looks out the top of his eyes and goes in the other room. Guilty? What do you think?

The weather today was beautiful, lower 70's and partly cloudy:

This is my friend Marie. She is my driver on Mondays. The round trip was fairly good. The only excitement today was a turkey vulture that instead of flying out of the way was flying in front of us, in front of the windshield. Sorry, I was not fast enough with the camera.

The following is a picture of my Radiation badge that I have to have everyday, if I forget it NO TREATMENT! I hope that never happens. Attached to the top, is a pin that my niece Erin sent me to BORROW. I gave it to her when she was a little girl and she still has it! HUH, I only thought there was one person who kept everything.

Todays treatment went well, I still am experiencing tummy trouble. I am not sure if I have a bug or what?????? I met several people in my waiting room today-just remember there is always someone worse than you!

The Weekend

As most of you know I do not have treatments on the weekend.
Saturday was so-so, the only thing I did was go to Pamida and get a new computer desk that was clearnced for 37.00! I am glad I did not buy it when I first wanted to. And then I went to visit my parents.

Sunday, well Sunday has been a different story. I am very tired and sick to my stomache. I do not know if this is Radiation related or a bug. I do know I do not like the way I feel. I slept until 11:30am and had some toast and took my pills and back to bed. It is about 6pm and I am trying to stay up so I sleep tonight.

I will be seeing the Dr. on Tuesday and I will ask him about anti-nausea medicine they have. No pictures yet, however I do have some burn marks starting on my head from the radiation. Nothing I can not handle as of now. BTW I dont know if I told you about wearing the mask-it is uncomfortable but not unbearable. I thank the good Lord for that!
